The Marana Big PHAT Band is an 18-piece ensemble from Marana and Tucson, and one of Southern Arizona's largest working big bands. Since forming in 2022 we've become a regular presence across the greater Tucson region, known for dynamic arrangements, stellar musicianship and a real appetite for playing live. The name fits — our sound is PHAT in every sense of the word: bold, high-energy and hard to sit still through.

Our book runs wide. Disco grooves that shimmer, the soulful warmth of folk ballads, the swagger of funk, the sophistication of jazz, iconic pop hooks and the soaring force of classic rock — all of it arranged for full big band, with bold horn lines and driving rhythms underneath.

For the 2026–2027 season we're working through the greatest hits of the sixties, seventies and eighties: Chicago, Kansas, Styx, Journey, the Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and more — the music you already love, reimagined at big band scale.

More than a band, we're a community ensemble — players who show up on Tuesday nights because they love this music and want to keep the big band tradition working. Whether you're reliving the soundtrack of your youth or hearing these songs for the first time, we bring a full-stage show to concert venues, festivals and community events across Southern Arizona.
